Thakur - It’s for all the people around the world – not important which language they
speak. It’s absolutely wonderful.
Being
a very popular language still Bhojpuri is fighting for its acceptance on
government level in its own birth land with different languages & cultures.
Honoured with the national language in Maurities and being spoken in over 14
countries, still it is eying towards its lover for regaining its position.
Whenever any voice arises in this regard, government clearly reject it stating
that the language which hasn’t got its
own literature and even lacks own script, has no right to demand its
affiliation. It may be considered as bad luck of Bhojpuri language as it has
already a poet of International standard in the form of Bhikhari Thakur. But
instead of being enriched with the composition of multidimensional Bhikhari
Thakur, no other writer dared to follow the foot step of legendary Bhikhari
Thakur due to the fear of rejection and humility already borne by Bhikhari
Thakur.The historic city of Kolkata has been always very famous for art &
culture. Kolkata is also considered as a place where budding quality of Bhikhari
Thakur prospered. At that point when he was struggling to end his meet, he was
impressed and inspired by movement carried out then by famous Bengali social
reformers much as Raja Ram Mohan Roy ,Ram Krishna Param Hans & Swami
Vivekananda. After being back to his native land enriched and enlighten with
ideas on every social level which can be seen and felt in his compositions. I t
is good coincidence that worlds 1st Bhikhari
Thakur festival was organized in the pious city of Kolkatta. "This festival
was an opportunity for people to experience the joy of Bhikhari Thakur, while
engaging with the radically transformative power of his poetry. It offered a
powerful encounter with the philosophy of Bhikhari Thakur, hopefully generating
moments of critical self-awareness and reflection on ideas of cultural identity
and social divisions, death and impermanence, and the nature of
knowledge," says festival co-ordinator Naresh Mahato.
